Canada Describes Israel’s Gaza Ground Assault as "Horrific"

(MENAFN) Canada’s Foreign Ministry on Tuesday denounced Israel’s latest ground assault in Gaza City, labeling it as "horrific."

According to a statement shared on the US social media site X, the ministry emphasized that "it worsens the humanitarian crisis and jeopardizes the release of the hostages."

It further stressed, "The Government of Israel must adhere to international law."

The ministry reiterated that Canada aligns with global partners in pressing for an immediate and lasting ceasefire, unhindered delivery of humanitarian supplies, and the liberation of all hostages.

Reports from Gaza indicated that more than 100 Palestinians were killed in intensified Israeli strikes across the enclave on Tuesday.

The escalation coincided with the Israeli military launching a fresh phase of its ground operation in Gaza City, part of a larger plan to fully reoccupy the city.

Nearly one million Palestinians—most of whom had already been displaced from other regions of the territory—remain trapped under continuous bombardment.

Since October 2023, Israeli forces have killed close to 65,000 Palestinians, the majority being women and children, in Gaza.
