Kremlin Warns Against French Military Supporting Ukraine

(MENAFN) Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Tuesday described reports that France intends to send troops to Ukraine as "alarming."

Referring to a statement by the Russian Intelligence Service (SVR), which suggested that Paris is preparing 2,000 soldiers to join Ukraine's forces, Peskov remarked: "It is alarming."

During a press briefing on the potential resumption of negotiations regarding Ukraine, Peskov explained that the current halt is due to Kyiv’s reluctance to continue discussions and its refusal to engage with Moscow's proposals for cooperation in three areas: political, military, and humanitarian.

France has not issued an immediate response. Along with the UK, it is part of a so-called "coalition of the willing," which intends to send troops to Ukraine after the conflict concludes.

Regarding comments from Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who suggested that Ukraine has the right to target Russian infrastructure across Europe, Peskov said such statements effectively "justify terrorist acts."

He urged European leaders to consider why maintaining a close partnership with Poland—an ally that condones terrorist actions—is necessary for the EU.

Peskov also warned that continued European support for Ukraine would result in increased financial burdens for the continent's taxpayers.
