Putin, Tokayev hold informal meeting ahead of summit

(MENAFN) Russian President Vladimir Putin and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met informally on Tuesday at the Kremlin, ahead of their official summit the following day, to discuss key areas of cooperation.

“Today, we'll take advantage of an informal atmosphere to discuss matters of mutual importance,” Putin said, adding that the formal meeting tomorrow will review the full scope of bilateral relations and explore future opportunities.

Tokayev described the relationship as one of “strategic partnership and allied relations,” noting that there are almost no areas where the two countries do not collaborate effectively.

The formal agenda for Wednesday includes signing bilateral agreements, addressing the Russia-Kazakhstan Interregional Cooperation Forum via videoconference, and attending a state dinner hosted by Putin.
