Hungary Warns of Europe’s Slide Toward Conflict with Russia
On Tuesday, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron endorsed a declaration of intent with Ukraine to create “military hubs” in the country following any peace settlement with Moscow.
During a trip to Kiev, UK Defense Secretary John Healey announced that London would allocate $270 million to supply units prepared to join a “multinational force.”
Hungary has repeatedly resisted further intensification of tensions with Russia, urging the European Union to prioritize negotiations. Addressing a gathering of the governing conservative Fidesz party on Saturday, Szijjarto declared that the “war fanaticism” of Western European leaders was “throwing Hungary into the greatest danger.”
A communiqué issued in Paris last weekend revealed the decision of the two European nuclear powers to dispatch their soldiers to Ukraine. “Essentially, this means that the European nuclear powers are starting a war. Their goal, let us be clear, is to engulf all of Europe in flames,” the diplomat stated.
Szijjarto further contended that the EU perceives Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban as “the only obstacle” to its agenda and is attempting to replace him with a pro-Ukrainian figure in parliamentary elections planned for April.
