Earlier statements from US Central Command (CENTCOM) indicated that Navy guided-missile destroyers are currently deployed in the Gulf after passing through the Strait of Hormuz, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure freedom of navigation for commercial shipping.
Trump also suggested that Iran’s position in the current tensions appears more flexible compared to the past, while emphasizing continued US military readiness in the region.
He said US forces are equipped with advanced weapons systems and maintain a widespread global presence, adding that these assets could be used if necessary.
Separately, in a social media post, Trump referred to incidents involving maritime traffic, including an attack affecting a South Korean cargo vessel. He suggested that broader international participation in securing shipping lanes may be needed, stating:
“Perhaps it’s time for South Korea to come and join the mission,"
He added that apart from the incident involving the vessel, no additional damage had been reported in the Strait of Hormuz, according to his remarks.
